Sweeten your beauty routine with a little honey

It’s been called the nectar of the gods, Cleopatra swore by it, and it literally NEVER spoils – so it’s no surprise that integrating a little honey into a beauty routine is like diving into a fountain of youth.  Not only does raw, unheated honey (this is key, heated honey has little to no health value) have amazing antibacterial qualities, but it’s great for healing and nourishing the skin.  On top of that, it even works to moisturize and prevent acne, and is great for scar and burn treatment.

Here are a few simple ways to bring a little spa-quality honey treatment into your daily routine.

1) Straight up
Pure honey is nature’s built in beauty mask.  Simply wash the skin, apply the honey in gentle, circular motions with the fingertips, leave on for 10-20 minutes and rinse.  Done regularly users often see diminished acne and enjoy a smoother tone and complexion.

2) Mix up a face mask that’s good enough to eat
A simple tablespoon of honey and generous dashes of cinnamon and nutmeg are all you need for the best acne and redness-fighting skin treatment Mother Earth has to offer.  Just work up a paste, spread evenly across the skin, wait 30 minutes and rinse.

3) Soak it up
Add ⅓ cup of honey to a steamy bath, then sit back and soak in all that dry skin-healing goodness. The heat and steam are wonderful for opening the pores, allowing the honey to soak in and leave you feeling deliciously soft.

4) Get goddess hair
Even more effective than your pricey conditioner, an olive oil and honey treatment will hydrate hair like no other.  Four tablespoons of honey and five tablespoons of olive oil are all that’s necessary for most long-haired ladies (slightly less for shorter styles).  Simply mix well and work into the hair until each strand is coated evenly.  Comb through, cover with a warm, damp towel and let that sugary goodness soak in for at least one hour before shampooing.

5) Mash it up
Feet never get the love they deserve, so show them some much needed attention with this super simple foot mask.  Just mash a banana, add a tablespoon of honey, massage it onto the feet and wrap each foot in plastic.  Leave the plastic on for 15-20 minutes then simply wash it away.
